In a way, it actually started a week before, when she and two of her good friends went to have Mary Kaye makeovers done. It was a great way to relax and do something for herself.
On Her actual day, Dean used one of his comp days from work, and stayed home, so she could relax even more. We planned on eating lunch with Connor at his school, so he could join with us in some of the festivities and not feel so left out, since he would be the only one away from home that day. There is no picture of this event taken, but it was a fun way to include Connor as we talked on the gym stage eating Sonic food!
Edie's one little surprise of the day was a box in the mail from mom with 6 individually wrapped gifts.
When Connor came home from school, we had the present opening then, so all the boys could see the unwrapping, and what was inside. What makes opening presents so much fun? Obviously that question does not really need to be asked, but the answer is that it brings out the child in all of us!
The day did not end there however, a few weeks before, we had asked a few of our friends to get sitters for their children, and join us for dinner at a local eatery spot called Fred's Hickory Inn, to celebrate. The setting, the food, and the company was in itself a great gift!
Edie even got the special treatment of being sung Happy Birthday to by the whole room, and also being serenaded to by an opera singer, And...
Getting an "on the house" piece of cheesecake with a candle on top! Wow what a dinner!
The next phase of the night was going back to our friends home for a few hours to play games. It was a great end to a great day!
