Winter Wonderland

2010 started out unusually cold and snowy for NW Arkansas. There were six days (plus one more the 1st of Feb.) in January that the schools and some businesses closed their doors because of the weather. The streets were a mess with ice and snow collecting. So what do you do with no school and work to drive into (Dean worked from home a few of those days) and snow around you. Shovel, and of course go sledding!

The last storm that hit us got us nearly 6 inches

This is probably how much they are suppose to get

in a full year!

When you are an adult, snow can be considered messy and an a bother, but when at home looking at it from within the walls of your warm home it can be a beautiful thing! We were able to witness and catch this beauty.

First came the ice, making branch

All of this is pure ice, see it glisten?

Then came the freezing fog. This left us with

beautiful crystal like ice structures on our trees.

We learned from Edie's brother David, who lives

in Minnesota it is called Hoar Frost.

We were glad that we got to witness a lot of wintery weather, but we hope that we can see a few more warmer days now that February is here!
